“When Nothing turns into Everything”

I wrote this story in early 2013, to enter into a competition held by Oxford University Press. A few days ago they sent me these pages and informed me that the story had been selected and published in their book “I’ll find my way” which is to be released on 7th February 2014.

  1. Third page. The last paragraphs. I literally had goose bumps. For a moment there, all those people I have lost like this swarmed my memory. You definitely deserved a publication for this. Well done and congratulations, love! 🙂

  2. oh oh! What a great news for you! Congrats alot ma’m, that really is a BIG achievement. have’nt read much of the story but the initial few pages look promising and of course they will be afterall it is the selected one! Congratulations again 🙂

  3. Moniba this is one of the best short stories i have ever read. You’ve conveyed the measage so gracefully. Well done. I hope you get more of your puished in the future and turn to be a beautiful beautiful writer. 🙂

      1. I’m not sure why you were offended unless it’s because the terrorist in the story was Muslim.

You will find quite a few terrorists in Gordimer’s work – including the title story of the collection – but that is the only Muslim one I know of.

If you knew of Gordimer’s background under apartheid you would know why she is so obsessed with examining the morality and mentality of terrorism.

      2. That was the reason. But I do not wish to form a prejudice against a literary writer, so I will continue reading more of her work, since her stories are also part of my syllabus. And I’ll make sure to read into her background as well.
